The Stolen Generation

This blog was created as a medium for all our family and friends to keep up to date on what Boncie is up to. I also created it as a keepsake for Boncie to look back on. That is why I am adding a few bits and pieces which I feel are special for Boncie to look back on, things that have occurred since his birth that are symbolic and historic.

Most importantly, in my opinion Boncie, is that of the current Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, saying Sorry to the Aboriginal Stolen Generation. You are being brought up to accept all people regardless of race, gender, size etc. so for you when you come to understand the severity of this, it will seem so barbaric to you. People not being served at a shop simply because of the colour of their skin and children taken from their parents to work as slaves, again because of their skin colour.

You currently have a black baby whom you call "Bubba", because Bubba is black when ever you see someone in the street who is black you say "Look Mumma, there's another Bubba"! You saw a Sikh on the train when you were 2-1/2 and questioned "Mumma, why does that man have red paint on his head?" and you asked a large man on the same train "Are you the Fat Controller?" your age and pure innocence allows you to ask such questions and act the way you do and all of the people involved in these stories laughed at you, however there is no excuse for 'grown ups', especially those who were in power and created such laws which allowed such horrendous things to occur.

Here is the Prime Minister saying sorry for you to watch when you are a 'bigger boy'.

Kevin Rudd's says "SORRY TO ABORIGINAL STOLEN GENERATION"
