The Stolen Generation

This blog was created as a medium for all our family and friends to keep up to date on what Boncie is up to. I also created it as a keepsake for Boncie to look back on. That is why I am adding a few bits and pieces which I feel are special for Boncie to look back on, things that have occurred since his birth that are symbolic and historic.

Most importantly, in my opinion Boncie, is that of the current Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, saying Sorry to the Aboriginal Stolen Generation. You are being brought up to accept all people regardless of race, gender, size etc. so for you when you come to understand the severity of this, it will seem so barbaric to you. People not being served at a shop simply because of the colour of their skin and children taken from their parents to work as slaves, again because of their skin colour.

You currently have a black baby whom you call "Bubba", because Bubba is black when ever you see someone in the street who is black you say "Look Mumma, there's another Bubba"! You saw a Sikh on the train when you were 2-1/2 and questioned "Mumma, why does that man have red paint on his head?" and you asked a large man on the same train "Are you the Fat Controller?" your age and pure innocence allows you to ask such questions and act the way you do and all of the people involved in these stories laughed at you, however there is no excuse for 'grown ups', especially those who were in power and created such laws which allowed such horrendous things to occur.

Here is the Prime Minister saying sorry for you to watch when you are a 'bigger boy'.

Anzac Day March

Each year we March with GG Pups at the Anzac Day March in the CBD. GG Pups was in WWII, in the Navy. He was on HMAS Arunta - pictured below. Once the war was over she was sold to the Japanese for scrap metal. The diggers were not impressed naturally, having just fought the Japanese; the day before she was due to sail to Japan she was sunk in Australian waters!! Ironic or not ;-)HMAS Arunta, derived from the Arrernte native people fron central Australia. The Arunta was a Tribal-class destroyer commissoned in 1942. Here is the flag of the Arunta at the March today. Boncie heading into the CBD on the toot toot for the March!!

Easter with our Family :-)

We just spent a wonderful Easter staying with some adorable friends in Canberra. The boys (Boncie and Issy) got along so well and were so very similar; most likely as they have been brought up in very similar ways :-) It was such a joy to see them hanging out and playing together so well. We all agreed that we will make it an annual affair. Thank you so much Foxy, Frankie, Hels and Issy for going out of your way to make it such a wonderful weekend. Issy darling, Boncie loves you and asks about you daily and when we are going to visit you next!! Frankie; you are such a diamond - thank you for all the lifts and being Spencer's hero and for all the time you spent playing with him - he talks all the time about the bike ride you gave him on your bike in your backyard. Foxy lady, thank you for also spending so much time with the little fellas, they adore you Foxy!!!! Frankie - Simon doesn't thank you for the fact he has to now grown a beard!!!!! Hels my dear thank you for being so generous with your car and just for being you and having such a beautiful son, he's such an angel as are you xxxx
